If you have an old version of PowWow still installed on your computer you must rename the POWWOW.INI file in your Windows directory (typically C:\WINDOWS\) and rename or uninstall any previous versions of PowWow on your PC before installing PowWow Version 3.50.

1. Download (PowWow Version 3.5, filename: PW350.EXE, size: 3,130KB) and save it to a location you will remember on your computer.



2. Install it by running the PW350.EXE file but do not run PowWow after the installation is finished.



3. Download the updated PowWow executable from here (updated PowWow Version 3.5 executable, filename: PW35.ZIP, size: 741KB), unzip it and copy the YYYYMMDD.EXE file to your PowWow installation directory (typically C:\Program Files\Tribal Voice\PowWow\).
   
   You may wish to create a shortcut to the updated PowWow executable on your Desktop, Start Menu or Programs folder.



4. Run PowWow and click on the Configuration (Wrench) button in the Main PowWow Navigation window and select Preferences… from the pop-up menu.



5. In the Preferences window click on the PULS/Tribe tab.
   
   In the PULS Server Address: field enter powwow.jazy.net and click on OK when done.



6. To join a Community click on the Communities (Globe-within-a-C) button at the bottom of the Communities window Main PowWow Navigation window and select Join a Community from the pop-up menu.
   
   The PowWow Address Book window will appear.



7. At the bottom of the PowWow Address Book window, enter powwow@jazy.net in the Join Community Address: field, and select (check) the Direct Connect option.
   
   Click on Join to enter the Community.

You should now be able to run PowWow on your computer. Please note as PowWow runs it will periodically attempt to re-register with the old Tribal Voice servers and display a warning when it cannot connect. This is normal behavior for PowWow and the registration requests can be ignored.

Jazy.Net maintains a Powwow White Pages directory in order for you to find other PowWow users.

To add yourself to the whitepages listing, you need to enable this feature - click here to login to your powwow account and setup your White Pages listing. Your record defaults to be hidden, you may change it's display status after you've logged in..

Please keep in mind you may not be able to connect to other PowWow users through the White Pages. Howerver, if you do successfully register with the powwow.jazy.net PULS server, and if you keep the error dialog box open which begins with
"Cannot locate registration host, error 1100N:.." - PowWow will work with the white pages, and chat requests can me made.

Firewalls
If you are behind a firewall or proxy server which uses Network Address Translation (NAT) be sure to forward TCP and UDP ports 13223 and 13224 to your computer.

PowWow uses TCP port 13223 for client connections and UDP port 13223 for transmitting voice data. TCP port 13224 is used for server connections.

Buddies and Buddy Requests
To add buddies to your Buddy List both you and your buddy must join the same Community. Once there, remove any pending buddy requests (a question mark icon in front of your friend's name) in your Buddy List. In the Community's list of people, find your buddy-to-be, right-click on their name and select Request to be a Buddy from the pop-up menu.

However, as the buddy feature is not fully-implemented with this version of PowWow and PULS, the buddy list feature in this version of PowWow is essentially moot. It will be commonplace for the buddies to drop off your list entirely, and IMs and etc. cannot be verified to be delivered properly to contacts on your buddy list. However, IMs and etc. will be delivered properly to buddies who are in the same community as you.

Error Messages
PowWow may display error messages when initially attempting to register and after file transfers have been successfully completed. These may safely be ignored.

In fact, if you leave the Error Messages open which begin with:
"Cannot locate registration host, error 1100N:.." open, PowWow will function with the powwow.jazy.net PULS server, and will work a bit more normally (tho this will in turn spawn more error messages, which can be safely ignored, and closed).
